Sweet Home Lodge led giving with $5,000 donation to the No Mason Left Behind Project in 2017.
When members of Sweet Home Lodge voted to give $5,000 to the No Mason Left Behind Project last year, the donation instantly set the bar at the highest level for Lodge gifts. The contribution spoke clearly of the integrity of this program and the understanding of the very serious nature of the need to support Texas Masons in their older years.
James Roy Elliott, Worshipful Master of Sweet Home Lodge, said, “We don’t give to national charities, we keep our money in Texas. Giving to provide a home at Texas Masonic Retirement Center for our brothers makes a difference in their lives. That’s the point. We’re helping people who need help. Plus, there is no other facility that is completely devoted only to Texas Masons and their relatives.”
Sweet Home Lodge, chartered in 1885, has a long and distinguished history in Texas Masonry with members spread across the state. In 2007, another growth period began with reconstitution of the Lodge. Today a total of 273 members participate in Sweet Home Lodge activities—including some with 50, 60, and 70 years of service. Meetings take place in a dedicated room at Texas Masonic Retirement Center.
The No Mason Left Behind Project giving year begins Sept. 1 and ends Aug. 31.
